Our review: ELEGOO Centauri Carbon 2 Combo
Desk research, not hands-on testing: specifications, independent reviews, documented issues and buyer data. Both scores are calculated from the inputs listed below. How we score
Verdict: The Centauri Carbon’s enclosed 256 mm CoreXY design with four-colour CANVAS printing included, a 350°C hardened steel nozzle and a 5-inch touchscreen. Published reviews are strong, but it only went on sale in January 2026, so its long-term record is still being written.
9 / 10 Technical difficulty: Low
4.4 / 10 From buyer ratings, track record and known issues
- Four-colour CANVAS system included, with automatic loading, filament backup and RFID filament recognition
- 350°C hardened steel nozzle for PC, PET and fibre-filled filaments
- Enclosed CoreXY with a 256 × 256 × 256 mm build volume
- Automatic levelling and calibration, a built-in camera and a 5-inch touchscreen
- Rated at 45 dB, against 55 dB for the original Centauri Carbon
- On sale only since January 2026, the shortest track record in our reviews
- Some owners report it is far louder than the rated 45 dB at full speed
- Every colour change purges filament, adding waste and time
- We could not confirm a tool-free nozzle swap
Best for: Buyers who want enclosed, multi-colour printing that also handles fibre-filled and high-temperature filaments, on a mid-range budget.
Look elsewhere if: You want a printer with years of owner history behind it, or a quiet machine for a shared room.

Amazon shows the same rating and review count on a listing of the ELEGOO Centauri Carbon, a different printer. Its reviews are pooled across models, so the review count earns no confidence points here.
Who it suits
The Centauri Carbon 2 Combo takes the enclosed CoreXY formula that made the original Centauri Carbon popular and adds what it was missing: multi-colour. It suits buyers who want colourful prints and engineering materials from one enclosed machine without paying premium-brand prices.
Setting it up
It calibrates itself, levelling the bed automatically, and is controlled from a 5-inch touchscreen, over the network or from the app, with a built-in camera for remote checks. It scores 9 on our ease-of-use checklist. The missing point is the nozzle: ELEGOO describes a magnetic printhead cover that makes nozzle changes easier, but we could not confirm the swap itself is tool-free, so we do not award it.
Printing with it
The CANVAS system feeds four spools into a single hotend, loads filament automatically, switches to a backup spool when one runs out, and reads RFID tags to identify compatible filaments. The usual single-nozzle trade-off applies: colour changes purge plastic and add time. See whether multi-colour is worth it.
A 350°C hardened steel nozzle means fibre-filled and higher-temperature filaments are in reach without a nozzle upgrade, and the enclosure keeps ABS and ASA from warping. See hardened vs brass nozzles.
Living with it
ELEGOO rates it at 45 dB, quieter than the original’s 55 dB, but some owners report it is much louder at full speed and recommend a heavy, solid surface. It is too new for a documented recall or widely confirmed fault, so there are no deductions, but its track-record score is the lowest possible because it launched in 2026. Expect the reliability indicator to firm up as owner reviews build.
