3D printer reviews

Ten of the printers UK buyers actually choose between, compared on how easy they are to live with, how reliable their owners find them, and what they cost today. Each review sits on the printer’s own page, next to its live price.

What these reviews are. We have not bench-tested these printers. Each review is desk research: manufacturer specifications, independent published reviews, documented recalls and known problems, and the buyer data this site tracks. The scores are calculated from inputs listed on every page rather than typed in, so you can see exactly what drives them.

How the scores are built

Both scores are calculated. Nothing on this page is a number someone typed in because it felt right, and each printer’s page shows the full breakdown.

Ease of use

A checklist of the features that decide how much of your time a printer takes. Each one is checked against the manufacturer’s own specifications, and the points add up to a maximum of 10:

Filament printersPoints
Arrives assembled: first print in about 30 minutes2
Automatic bed levelling2
Automatic vibration or flow calibration1
App or network printing1
Filament run-out or tangle detection1
Tool-free nozzle swap1
Touchscreen1
Built-in camera1

Resin printers use their own checklist, then lose 2 points, because every resin print adds washing, curing, gloves and ventilation that no filament printer asks of you. A feature list alone would hide that.

Technical difficulty reads straight off the score: 8 or more is Low, 5 to 7 is Medium, and below 5 is High.

Reliability

An indicator built from what owners report, not a measured failure rate:

One caveat worth knowing: Amazon often pools reviews across a product’s variations, so a rating can describe a family of printers rather than one model. Where that is clearly happening, the review says so.

Most printers are sold under several Amazon listings: bundles, colours and regional versions. The buyer rating comes from the listing with the most reviews, so each printer has one reliability figure wherever its review appears, and the price in the table above is the cheapest listing in stock at the time.

Guides for first-time buyers

Prices and availability come from Amazon and change constantly. We may earn a commission on purchases made through our links, at no extra cost to you. That never changes a score: the inputs are listed on every page. How this works
