Our review: Flashforge Adventurer 5M

Desk research, not hands-on testing: specifications, independent reviews, documented issues and buyer data. Both scores are calculated from the inputs listed below. How we score

Verdict: Most of the 5M Pro’s convenience for less money, minus the enclosure, filter and camera. A very easy open-frame CoreXY printer for PLA and PETG.

Ease of use
9 / 10
Technical difficulty: Low
Reliability indicator
5.9 / 10
From buyer ratings, track record and known issues
Upsides
  • Arrives assembled, with automatic bed levelling
  • Fast CoreXY motion with a built-in vibration compensation test
  • Tool-free quick-release nozzle for changing sizes in seconds
  • Filament run-out detection and a 4.3-inch touchscreen
  • App and network printing
Downsides
  • Open frame: ABS and ASA are hard to print well without an enclosure
  • No built-in camera
  • 220 × 220 × 220 mm build volume is smaller than 256 mm rivals
  • Nozzles are proprietary quick-swap assemblies rather than standard screw-in nozzles

Best for: Beginners who want a fast, self-levelling printer with tool-free nozzle swaps for everyday PLA and PETG printing.
Look elsewhere if: You want to print ABS or ASA, or to watch your prints remotely on a camera.

Amazon pools reviews across this listing’s variations, so the buyer rating describes the product family, not this exact configuration.

Amazon shows the same rating and review count on a listing of the Flashforge Adventurer 5M Pro, a different printer. Its reviews are pooled across models, so the review count earns no confidence points here.

This printer is sold under several Amazon listings. The buyer rating comes from the one with the most reviews, so it is the same wherever this review appears.

Who it suits

The Adventurer 5M is for beginners who want a fast, low-maintenance printer and are happy to stick to the easy materials. It shares its motion system, hotend and levelling with the more expensive 5M Pro, so day-to-day printing feels much the same.

Setting it up

It arrives assembled and levels itself automatically, with a vibration compensation test for clean surfaces at speed. The touchscreen, Flashforge app and slicer cover everything a beginner needs. The only item it misses on our ease-of-use checklist is a camera, which published reviews confirm it does not have.

Printing with it

Unusually for its price, it is a CoreXY printer: the bed only moves down, and the light print head does the fast moves. That makes it quick and stable with tall prints, and more compact than a bed-slinger with the same bed. See bed-slinger vs CoreXY.

PLA, PETG and TPU are its materials. Although the nozzle reaches 280°C, there is no enclosure, so ABS and ASA are a struggle. If those matter, the 5M Pro is the better buy.

Living with it

The quick-release nozzle is one of its best features, making swaps and clog recovery easy. Replacement nozzles are Flashforge assemblies rather than generic nozzles, so they cost more each. Without a camera, you will need to check on long prints in person or rely on the app’s status updates.

Amazon pools ratings across Adventurer 5M listings, so the rating in our reliability indicator describes the 5M family rather than this exact printer.

5M or 5M Pro?

Choose the 5M if you will print PLA and PETG and want to save money. Choose the Pro for ABS and ASA, filtered air, a camera, or a printer in a room people use. Compare today’s prices for both in our review table, and check this listing’s price history below before buying.
