Our review: ELEGOO Centauri Carbon
Desk research, not hands-on testing: specifications, independent reviews, documented issues and buyer data. Both scores are calculated from the inputs listed below. How we score
Verdict: An enclosed, solidly built CoreXY printer with a 320°C hotend and 256 mm build volume, usually priced below most enclosed rivals. It is still a young model: early owners reported firmware niggles and some glass panels broken in transit.
9 / 10 Technical difficulty: Low
3.9 / 10 From buyer ratings, track record and known issues
- Enclosed CoreXY with a 256 × 256 × 256 mm build volume
- 320°C nozzle and 110°C bed for a wide range of materials
- Arrives assembled, with ELEGOO quoting under 15 minutes to set up
- Automatic calibration, including 121-point strain-gauge bed levelling and vibration compensation
- Built-in camera, filament run-out sensor, 4.3-inch touchscreen and a dual-sided build plate
- Nozzle changes need a 6 mm spanner and pliers rather than a tool-free clip
- Owners reported early firmware issues, and some glass panels broken in shipping
- Heavy at 17.5 kg
- No multi-colour option on this original model
- Some owners find it loud at full speed
Best for: Buyers who want an enclosed printer for ABS, ASA and higher-temperature filaments on a mid-range budget, and have a sturdy surface for a 17.5 kg machine.
Look elsewhere if: You want multi-colour printing on this model, or tool-free nozzle changes.

Who it suits
The Centauri Carbon was ELEGOO’s move into enclosed CoreXY printers, and it arrived at a price that made enclosed printing far more affordable. It suits buyers who want to print ABS, ASA and other warm-chamber materials without paying for a premium brand.
Setting it up
It arrives assembled, and ELEGOO quotes under 15 minutes from unboxing to printing. It levels its bed automatically using strain gauges at 121 points and runs vibration compensation, then you control it from the 4.3-inch touchscreen or over Wi-Fi. It misses only one item on our ease-of-use checklist: the nozzle is not a tool-free swap.
At 17.5 kg with glass panels, it is heavy. Unpack it carefully, check the glass on arrival, and give it a solid surface.
Printing with it
A 320°C nozzle and 110°C bed give it more temperature headroom than most printers in these reviews, and the enclosure keeps ABS and ASA from warping. See enclosed vs open frame. The 256 mm build volume matches the Bambu Lab P1S, and the dual-sided build plate gives you a choice of surface finish. See build surfaces explained.
This original model has no multi-colour option, so if colour matters, look at a multi-colour printer instead.
Living with it
Changing the nozzle needs a 6 mm spanner and a pair of pliers, following ELEGOO’s guide. It is a short job, but less convenient than the clip-in nozzles on the Bambu Lab A1 or Flashforge Adventurer 5M.
Early owners reported firmware problems after the 2025 launch, and some received printers with glass panels broken in transit. Firmware updates can address software issues, but both were widely enough reported to cost half a point each on our reliability indicator, and the model’s short track record counts too. Some owners also find it loud at full speed.
Is today’s price a good deal?
The Centauri Carbon’s case is value, so the price on the day matters. Compare it with the P1S and Adventurer 5M Pro in our review table, and check this page’s price history before buying.
